Once you have a roach in your house, you start learning each day about what works and what doesn’t work. That is exactly what happened to us during our infestation. The same question is valid for sticky roach traps: Is it an effective method of getting rid of cockroaches or just a waste of money?
The answer to the effectiveness of stick glue traps on cockroaches is definitely both YES and NO.
Let me explain the YES first..
You buy a glue trap or known as sticky traps for roaches from your closes Walmart, Home Depot or maybe with a more reasonable price from Amazon (every penny counts..).
Place them all around the kitchen and bathroom areas, under sinks, behind refrigerator, under the cabinets, etc. and wait for the them to be attracted. Once the roaches step on the glue trap they won’t be able to move anymore and will die from dehydration. Smart and sound pretty easy as a DIY cockroach remedy!
While talking about the effectiveness of traps, I made a quick search and found the following sticky roach traps on Amazon:
The best part of the above traps is they are being sold on the market as non-toxic and eco friendly. Another benefit is that you don’t see roach corpses all around as a mess when you wake up in the morning.
Frankly, the way that I look at these traps are that they are highly effective only for controlling small amount of roaches or mostly good for the determination of any pests in your house. That is the reason of my YES answer to the effectiveness of the sticky traps on cockroaches.
A Great Tool Checking Cockroach Activity At Home – Roach Traps
If you have any questions about the current roach existence in your house, I would highly recommend placing one of the above traps. It is a very simple but effective way of identifying any activity in your house. Also, it will help you to identify the roach type as you are not killing them with a destructive method.
Sticky Traps Are Not Effective Roach Control Method
If you want to get rid of roaches, you need more than just trapping and killing them. If you have a highly infested house with dozens or maybe hundreds of these creatures, then trapping them will be just suppressing the visible ones that are walking around and I don’t believe that it will be a permanent solution to the cockroach problem.
In such a case, you should be using a more effective cockroach killer, that will help you to solve the problem at the heart of it.. inside their nests!
Final Words on Roach Sticky Glue Traps
If you have questions about having roaches at home or identifying the species just because that you noticed couple of them walking around, then I will highly recommend using the traps. Again, this will help you to identify the problem and have a roach free house before they start re-producing.
Once you have more than just a couple, then the best is using a stronger and long term pest control method like roach gel baits or boric acid roach exterminator.
Using the roach traps as a supplement to the above methods will be the best path to a roach free house!
